Description

The Prince Albert Police Service is inviting applications for the full time position of a Janitor/Maintenance Labourer. This position will perform a wide variety of janitorial functions as well as maintenance at the Prince Albert Police Service Main Station Building, the Police Service Downtown Substation, and any other Police building. Work of this class includes both heavy and light physical labour.

-Cleaning floors, carpets, bathrooms
-Cleaning offices including furniture, mechanical devices, windows, and walls
-Minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems
-Garbage and trash duties in and around the buildings
-Ordering and stocking cleaning supplies
-Meet with supervisors and staff to assess maintenance needs in a professional manner
-Janitorial and manual labor during special events
-Seasonal inspections of equipment such as smoke detectors
-Minor repairs to doors, walls, ceilings and building infrastructure

Position Information:
Salary range of $40,000 to $46,000
Pension and Benefits
Shift work  current arrangement for a day shift of 5 on 2 off, 5 on 3 off may change

Required Qualifications:
Professional cleaning experience, preferably in an institutional, commercial or business setting
Experience using industrial cleaning equipment
Experience making minor repairs for plumbing, electrical, mechanical and preparation for painting
WHMIS training
Ability to follow the Act, Regulations and Policies related to Occupational Health & Safety
Ability to assess the need for major repairs and track upcoming issues
Ability to work safely, recognize unsafe situations and recommend corrections
Ability to properly handle chemicals
Ability to lift furniture and equipment as necessary to clean or repair
Ability to stand, bend and lift for extended periods
Possession of a valid Class 5 drivers license
Ability to clear a mandatory enhanced police security check
