JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Support Worker, under the direction of the Clinical Care Coordinator, provides personal care assists residents with the activities of daily living as described in the care plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide personal care according to care plan
Perform specialized care procedure as directed by clinical care coordinator
Observe and document client conditions; report unusual events or changes in the residents condition to Clinical Care Coordinator/Family Doctor
Understand and implement infection prevention and control practices
Participate in ongoing continuing education
Follow SAMR Policies and Procedures
Follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Maintains privacy and confidentiality of residents and their information
Complete other tasks as requested
Medication administration
Feeding assistance
EDUCATION
Personal Support Worker Certificate (required)
Food Safe Certificate (within 3 months)
First Aid/CPR (within 3 months)
GPA (within 3 months)
TLR (within 3 months)
WHMIS 15 (within 3 months)
Medication Module (upon hire - Ministry of Health)
EXPERIENCE
At least one year of recent personal care experience in a similar position or life experience in which similar duties were completed is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate, written and oral, in English. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely; able to freely lift 23 kilograms; able to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed; demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions as related to resident care.
