Description

Accountable: directly to the CFS Protection/Prevention Supervisor. The duty and responsibility of the Child Protection Worker is to identify children who are at risk of or being maltreated due to acts of omission by their parents, care givers, or any person who is in a capacity of loco-parentis and intervene to remediate the issues/conditions that exist within the family which cause that child/ren to be in need of protection as per legal mandate of the Saskatchewan Child & Family Services Act. The Child Protection Worker works as part of a larger community human resource team in determining community child protection and family support service needs. Based on current fundamental social work and child welfare values the Child Protection Worker will work from a strengths based, family centred model, ensuring services are holistic in nature, empowers families to adequately care for their children and reflective of the traditions, customs values and language of the Dene and Cree people. The Child Protection Worker is bound by the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and legislated requirements of confidentiality as specified by The Saskatchewan Child and Family Services Act; Section 74 and the BNDN Personnel Regulations specifically Code of Ethics.
