Description

The Ombudsman and the Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner is an Independent Officer of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Reporting directly to the Ombudsman and Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner, the Deputy Ombudsman/Deputy Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner plays a pivotal leadership role within the organization. As the executive lead of investigations, the position provides the strategic vision, planning and oversight for intake, early resolution and investigation of all complaints.

As our ideal candidate, you will be decisive, highly motivated and will have extensive investigative and collaborative problem-solving experience. You will also have superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including persuasion, mediation and negotiation. The ability to conceptualize, implement and evaluate innovative and creative problem-solving methodologies. The ability to manage multiple issues and competing priorities within significant time constraints is essential. Superior leadership skills and the ability to coach, inspire and build confidence in others is also critical. The successful candidate will also bring a sensitivity and experience in dealing with complex, publicly sensitive, systemic and confidential matters. The ability to work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals and senior officials and to develop and sustain working relationships is key to the incumbents success.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through a graduate degree in social or health science, public administration, or law and at least 10 years experience in a leadership role with at least 5 of those years in a senior management role leading a multi-discipline team. Knowledge of the Government of Saskatchewans program delivery and systems would be considered an asset.
