Description

The primary function of the Program Assistant is to support the Program Manager in the following primary functions: develop and monitor Person Centered Plans for all participants engaging in community activities: work, learning, recreation and spiritual growth; teach and direct staff in the application of core values to the activities offered in Harvest Community Programs.
DUTIES:
1. To determine the interest, potential and aptitude of each program participant.
2. To work with management and supervisory staff to ensure the above is being met by observation and intervention as required within the context of the general activities of Harvest Community.
3. To manage interpersonal relationships of participants and supervisory staff, fostering understanding and respect, striving for a truly peaceful environment.
4. Working in co-operation with the Program Manager to schedule and undertake Social Skills training with each of the participants in accordance with their needs and subject to #1 above.
5. To coordinate and deliver learning, life skills, work skills and recreation programming for Program participants.
6. To assist in maintaining Person Centered Plans for each of the program participants. To document participant progress in meeting goals of PCP's and implements approved interventions when necessitated by behavioral issues. (Consultation with the Program Manager to be undertaken if the situation is without precedent or protocol)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: Candidates must have obtained some level of post-secondary education in disability support services.
* Experience: Candidates must have 3-5 years experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities.
* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada and must communicate/read/write fluently in English.  
* Position is in rural location and candidate is responsible for transportation to and from job site.
