Description

The Director of Child Protection must have in depth knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, and will determine and monitor the design, planning, and implementation of TCFS protective services, organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. He/she is responsible for identifying, training, developing and implementing strategic Child Welfare effectiveness processes and learning initiatives. The core responsibilities of this position are, the protection of children, providing advice regarding reports of alleged child abuse and child welfare cases, ensuring complete follow-up for determining the outcome of child abuse investigations, leadership development, managerial development, performance management, and succession planning. The incumbent will interface with all levels of leadership. He/she approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. The Director of Child Protection oversees the goal of leading, guiding and improving the human capital of the organization as a critical component in accomplishing Child Protection goals. He/she is familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures. He/she relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  He/she will have significant knowledge of issues impacting First Nations Children and Families.
