Description

The Family Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for co-facilitating the Domestic Adoption Orientation Program; the research, development and delivery of programming (inhouse and external) including the PRIDE review sessions; providing informal counselling, referrals and general support services for clients of ASCS.
1.Domestic Adoption Orientation (DAO) Program
a.Completing DAO Orientation sessions (phone, online, in person) for prospective adoptive parents & Responding to inquiries
c.Maintain accurate record-keeping in paper and electronic database systems
d.Completing referral consultations and follow-up to MSS on domestic adoption applications
e.In consultation with MSS updating and delivering the PRIDE review session for prospective Adoptive parents
2.Outreach, Education & Support
a.Responding to telephone and e-mail inquiries for information and education
b.Providing information and resources for (i) prospective adoptive parents for private, step-parent, adult, and intercountry adoptions; (ii) foster parents; (iii) birth parents and extended birth family; (iv) adoptees; (v) professionals; (vi) students; and, (vii) general public.
c.Developing and updating material on the ASCS website and social media platforms as well as contributing to the ASCS newsletter.
3.Workshops & Presentations
a.Researching, developing, facilitating and co-facilitating workshops, conferences and support groups with a focus on adoption
b.Build relationships within the adoption community and stakeholder community on a municipal, provincial and national level.  This includes: booking and presenting information sessions
c.Building bridges with aboriginal communities and stakeholders
4.Community Support Groups
a.Assist in the development of adoption-related support groups in Saskatoon and throughout Saskatchewan
b.Provide outreach services to assist in the maintenance of the support groups
