For more than 10 years, Orano has been developing and field testing the Surface Access Borehole Resource Extraction (SABRE) mining method a high pressure water jet-boring system from surface. In the last few years, major tooling and methodology upgrades have been engineered and are ready for field testing in 2021.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare and coordinate the execution of the field-testing campaign of the SABRE mining method
-Work closely with technical leads
-Coordinate work flows and processes and support functions for the SABRE operations (e.g. safety, environment, radiation, and site services)
-Establish a work organization, recruit, train and prepare project team for field tests (mining contractor, supervisory, technical and labour manpower)
-Prepare and commission the SABRE Project site infrastructures (high pressure pumps and lines, solid separation unit, backfill equipment and supplies, pond dewatering, etc.), dry and lunchroom facilities
-Ensure proper data acquisition, analysis and reporting
-Conduct/assist in various technical design reviews
-Conduct safety and environmental audits
-Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
-10 to 15+ years experience in a mining environment (operations, maintenance, technical, supervisory/management) preferably as a mining or mechanical engineer
-Proven success in a supervising role
-Familiar with uranium mining
-Extensive project and/or technical experience
-Strong innovation, problem solving, planning, and organizational skills
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake Site
-Work Schedule: 4 days in / 3 days out rotation. Flexible work schedules may be agreed upon by supervisor, with occasional work out of the Saskatoon Corporate Office.
-Possible opportunity to transition into a longer term or permanent contract
