Experience in Early Childhood Education an asset but not required.
Summary of responsibilities: Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Cook is responsible for providing meals (2 snacks and lunch daily) that is nutritionally appropriate for young children, appealing and supports the philosophy of the centre. Some child care responsibilities will be required as well.
All aspects of menu planning, purchasing, food preparation and service, including:
1. Plan and post weekly menus that support the philosophy of the centre.
2. Practice sensible and practical food preparation.
3. Develop recipes that are economical, appealing and nutritionally appropriate.
4. Maintain sanitary and safe practices in food preparation and service.
5. Work with other caregivers to provide opportunities for children to learn about foods and assist in food preparation.
6. Work co-operatively with parents who may require special diets for their children.
7. Advise regular caregivers about specific food restrictions and alternatives on a daily basis.
