Description

Assist Director/Curator in all aspects of curatorial practice, including research and administration for upcoming exhibitions, as well as preparation duties (art handling, assistance with installation of exhibits) and working with the art and museum collections, filing, cataloging, and storage of objects.

Organize and administrate Curatorial information, including create and organize artworks list that pertain to upcoming exhibitions.
Research biographical information of artists related to upcoming exhibitions
Communicate with lending artists and institutions regarding upcoming exhibitions
Communicate on behalf of the Curator to establish possible tour venues, arrange tour schedules for exhibitions, create and distribute loan agreements with collectors and institutions
Assist with insuring artworks and shipping arrangements, including creating and distributing venue agreements for participating tour venues
Assist with installation and removal of exhibitions
Assist with the editing & proofing of various documents prior to publication or public posting
Work with the collection  creating artist and object files, cataloging objects, data entry of objects into the database, art handling and storage
Other tasks to provide assistance on projects as they arise.

Required Education and Experience: Undergraduate College or university student in history, education, art, or a field of study related to museum studies, and experience or interest working with a curator or other administration.

This position is dependent on funding from Canada Summer Jobs and must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; legally entitled to work in Canada; and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.
