Facility: St Pauls Hospital
Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Mission, the Writer-in-Residence (WIR) position functions as part of the Healing Arts Program (HAP) and in collaboration with the health care team. The role of the WIR is to contribute to the holistic care of staff, clients, and families through the use of writing and literary arts. The WIR will provide literary services at St. Paul's Hospital through a variety of mediums: - Reading (to patients and their families when requested) - Assisting patients, staff, and community members with writing projects such as: journal writing, letters, creative writing, memoirs, poetry, etc. - Writing and reading workshops for staff, patients, and their families. - Potential recruitment of volunteer staff to assist in promoting the healing arts program through literary arts. - The creation of community partnerships through volunteer initiatives
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as: art, health care, human services or education or demonstrates professional literary experience outside the educational setting.  
Experience
The Writer-in-Residence will have experience mentoring individuals/facilitating groups in the medium of writing and literature. Experience working in a health care setting and/or working with vulnerable populations would be considered an asset.
