Job Description: The Mental Health and Addiction Service (MHAS) Community Outreach Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care and mental and health and addictions care. The RN (NP) promotes holistic, promotion and prevention care with an understanding of the determinants of health. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families and communities. This includes community needs assessment, supporting inter-professional collaboration and promoting continuous improvement. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with Mental Health and Addiction Services programs. The primary functions of this position are adding support to Community based teams and programs and to successfully manage, support and sustain change. The RN (NP) will have the responsibilities of clinical team building and to work within a collaborative community nursing model of care.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Level C Health Care Provider (HCP) - Heart & Stroke
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) as an RN (NP)
