Reporting to the Mill General Manager, and as a valued member of the leadership team, the Maintenance & Engineering Manager facilitates the overall maintenance function of the Meadow Lake Mill (Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation). Sustaining the level of preservation of the mill and its equipment is a prime goal for this position, focusing on ensuring the level of reliability required to attain plant production levels while containing costs through effectively applying maintenance resources.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements and executes maintenance and maintenance related activities in the Mill.
- Participates in the recruitment of trades personnel, assesses job performance for reporting supervisors, and assists in training and development of same.
- Develops departmental budgets, prioritizes spending, and advises senior management on cost over-runs and extraordinary equipment requisitions.
- Ensures conformance to the Standard Labour Contract and Company policies. Directs Maintenance Supervisors and tradesmen in implementation of the Mill safety programs and environmental policies.
- Collaborate in the development of a knowledge sharing network with peers in other Paper Excellence mills.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering or trade qualifications in a relevant industrial field and eligible for registration with APEGS.
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience of leading a maintenance & engineering department; 5+ years experience as a first line supervisor managing a team of skilled Tradesmen and Engineers.
- Existing experience in the pulp and paper industry highly preferred.
- Expertise in the industry including project management and operations management.
- Knowledge of pulp and paper technology, operations and production methods would be beneficial.
