As directed by the Medical Health Officer (MHO) of Indigenous Services of Canada (ISC), the Public Health model and concepts of primary health services, the CHN utilizes the nursing process by assessing health needs, epidemiological data, identifying clients needs and establishes a plan of care for individuals, families and communities in the areas of Communicable Disease Control, Maternal/Child Health, and School Health.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing
* Registered Nurse in good standing (or eligible to become registered) with Sask. Registered Nurses Association.
* Minimum 3 years in community health nursing experience in First Nations community an asset.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues facing First Nations people
* Good understanding of population health principles and concepts
* Must be able to work as an effective team member and to work independently, in a self- motivated manner.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills
* Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
* Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Class 5 drivers license, work flexible hours, possibility of some evenings and some weekends
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures. Knowledge of Plains Cree Language is a definite asset.
* Must provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector
* Must be computer literate
