The Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a skilled, self-motivated and results oriented GIS Analyst in the Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch. The successful candidate will provide GIS services within the branch including data analysis and map production, GIS application development and coordination, geo-processing model building and maintenance, spatial data management, and GIS training and support.
Reporting to the Manager of Geomatics and Business Systems, the GIS Analyst will be responsible for: provision of technical support for a wide range of GIS needs, including collection, compilation, and custom analysis of spatial data within branch; management of spatial data and metadata for publication to online maps and services; developing SQL queries to extract business data from various databases and utilize GIS tools such as ESRI ArcGIS Desktop to spatially analyze datasets and prepare custom maps for internal and external clients; building and maintaining geoprocessing workflows that aid in the automation of business processes; participation on application development and database system upgrade projects as the GIS specialist, by coordinating and collecting documentation of user requirements and identifying and evaluating the options for new GIS systems and processes; generate procedure manuals and other training material to assist staff with GIS system updates and features; development and maintenance of field data capture methods;
software support, deployment, and customization; and office peripheral use and support, including wide format printers, laptops, desktops, and accessories.
