Responsibilities:
-Provide leadership on matters related to hydrogeology, contaminant transport, geotechnical topics, mine waste management, and decommissioning
-Lead technical programs related to geotechnical, hydrogeological, and geochemical studies and the assessment of existing and planned waste management facilities
-Effectively communicate on issues related to geosciences with a focus on geotechnical, hydrogeology, and contaminant transport concerns
-Oversee and assist in the preparation of documentation in support of engineering and scientific studies, environmental assessments, follow-up programs, and licensing of mining-related projects
-Responsible for technical support to site operations staff in the areas of environmental monitoring, reporting, and resolution of technical issues requiring expertise
-Coordinate with stakeholders on projects
-Manage contractors and consultants who conduct engineering and scientific studies
-Prepare technical reports
-Co-ordinate and execute field investigations for the purposes of site characterization, installation of monitoring instrumentation, tailings and waste rock testing and characterization, and assessment of mine-dewatering requirements
-Possess or develop a sound knowledge of the companys operations and the technical requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
-University degree in engineering, hydrogeology or relevant science discipline; Masters degree is desirable
-APEGS member as a P.Eng or P.Geo (or eligible to be)
-Minimum 8-10 years related experience
-Knowledge of codes and regulations pertaining to mining and environmental protection
-Hands on experience in numerical modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport
-Familiarity with geochemical modeling tools
Work Location & Schedule:
-Saskatoon Corporate Office
-Travel to the mill, mine or project sites as required
