Description

The City of Swift Current is seeking a student for the part time position of Communications and Design Assistant for the Art Gallery. Reporting to the Director, you will develop and implement communications materials for use in support of art exhibitions, interpretive services, and educational programs. You will use graphic design skills to help improve gallery communications by incorporating better design into our distributed materials and social media.
You will work with programming staff to develop and implement new art interpretive activities online and for interested groups of the public and schools.
You will assist AGSC to update the Permanent Collections data by inputting data, organizing collections files, and taking photographs of collection items as needed.
In addition, greet and assist visitors to the gallery, assist with daily gallery operation duties, with all aspects of exhibition and event preparations and clean up.
Basic Requirements:
- Preference will be given to a candidate who has completed one year of university level Visual Arts, Visual Arts History, Arts Education, Graphic Communications, Arts Administration or other related field.
- A willingness to obtain a Criminal and Vulnerable Sector check as we are a Youth Certified Employer
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English language. Confidence and clarity in public speaking is required
- a basic understanding of Microsoft Office
- a driver's licence is an asset for this position
