Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill the Head Guard/Pool Manager role. Under the direction of the Recreation Service Supervisor, the Head Guard/Pool Manager is responsible for all aspects of delivering the municipal indoor and outdoor pool programs.
This position will perform the following duties:
-Assist in the administration of recreation programs, learn-to-swim programs, fitness programs and community programs. Order and maintain learn-to-swim supplies and recommend equipment for pool programs;
-Schedule supervise and direct activities of lifeguards, instructors and cashier;
Assist in the development, co-ordination and delivery of staff in-service training, ensure all pool program staff properly understand and apply the established rules of the programs and facilities;
-Update and review the Aquatic Safety Program and other policy as required;
-Address inquiries from general public and user groups; investigate complaints and problems to ensure proper follow-up and action. Ensure patrons and staff are aware of all matters regarding water safety;
-Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating weekly staff schedules, coordinate and direct all staff rotations, breaks and absences;
-Ensure time-sheets, reports and records on staff and activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner;
-Lead a safety-focused culture within their area of responsibility by promoting positive attitudes towards health and safety in themselves and those they supervise;
The ideal candidate will have:
-Completion of Grade 12
-Lifeguard certification to meet current Saskatchewan Health Swimming Pool Regulations and Standards; Current National Lifeguard; Current Water Safety Instructor; Current Life Saving Instructor and Current Fitness Instructor certificates; Class 5 drivers license;
-A minimum of two (2) years experience as a lifeguard/instructor;
-Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory role.
