Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a Lifeguard/Instructor role. Under the direction of the Recreation Service Supervisor (Pool), the Lifeguard/Instructor is responsible for the safe delivery of municipal pool programming.
This position will perform the following duties:
    Ensure the safe delivery of municipal aquatic programs by providing proper lifeguard supervision as per the Aquatic Safety Manual;
    Ensure all patrons adhere to rules of the facility and initiate appropriate actions as required;
    Respond to first aid and emergency situations as required in an appropriate manner;
    Serve in the capacity of learn-to-swim or fitness instructor. Ensure records and administration requirements are completed in a timely and accurate manner for all programs;
    Address inquiries from general public and user groups and be courteous to the public at all times. Ensure patrons and staff are aware of all matters regarding water safety;
    Participate and lead in-service training as directed by the Head Guard/Pool Manager;
    Perform various cleaning tasks and ensure all related pool program areas within the facility are clean, safe and up to established standards, also assist in pool maintenance and tests as required to meet established standards;
    Perform duties of the Cashier as outlined in the Cashier/Lifeguard/Instructor job description as required;

The ideal candidate will have:
    Lifeguard certification to meet current Saskatchewan Health Swimming Pool Regulations and Standards; Current National Lifeguard; Current Water Safety Instructor; Current Life Saving Instructor and Current Fitness Instructor certificates;
    Ability to deal courteously, effectively and tactfully with the public;
    Ability to work with cash accurately and in an accountable manner;
    Ability to work in a computer environment including Microsoft Office and PerfectMind Recreation Software
