Great Plains College is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic instructor(s) for our ESL program. The instructor will plan, organize and implement an instructional program of English for settlement, academic or work purposes for learners whose first language is not English. The position will also be responsible for the informal evaluation of learners including on-going progress assessment and short and long-term instructional planning (lesson and unit planning).

Total Contract: 22.5 days
Start Date: October 22, 2020
End Date: April 29, 2021
Duties include:
Plan and implement English Language instruction using CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) curriculum guidelines in a classroom setting, within a multi-level group-instruction setting.
Incorporate Canadian cultural and settlement components into the curriculum and arrange for guest speakers and field trips
Implements student learning assessment tools that meet and follow the curriculum and College guidelines, standards and requirements.
Establishes, communicates and implements classroom participation and activity protocols, procedures and expectations
Provides learner guidance and referrals.
Plan and prepare to instruct each day and present course material in a clear and comprehensible manner
Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Education preferred
-Completion of TESL (Teachers of English as a Second Language) Canada
-Professional Certificate Standard One interim; and member in good standing of TESL Saskatchewan
-Knowledge of and experience in cross-cultural settings and willingness to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
-Valid drivers license and willingness to travel
-Preference will be given to individuals who understand the principles of adult education
-Two or more years of recent-on-the-job experience in the skills or technical subject area.
