Municipalities of Saskatchewan (formerly SUMA) is the voice of Saskatchewan hometowns, representing cities, towns, villages, and northern municipalities. MuniSask advocates, negotiates and initiates improvements in local, provincial and federal legislation and delivers programs and services to members to enhance the quality of life in Saskatchewan.
Reporting to the Director of Advocacy Services, the Advocacy and Communications Advisor will foster relationships with members and stakeholders, advance hometown interests through advocacy with other levels of government, produce content for various publications, and curate social media.
Candidates for this position must have: a strong background in writing for various audiences and using a variety of communications vehicles; excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to self-motivate and prioritize tasks; and the flexibility to adapt to new information and think on their feet. Some travel will be required, and applicants should possess a valid Saskatchewan drivers license.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. A degree in any discipline may be relevant to MuniSasks work, although programs requiring significant writing, analysis, and presentation skills will better prepare an advisor for the challenges of the job. Preference will be given to those with related communications, governmental, municipal, journalistic, or research experience.
The current salary range for MuniSask communications and advocacy advisor is: $63,988 to $85,888, and placement on the scale will reflect qualifications and experience.
