(1 FT Term & 1 PT Term Position.) The Parent Mentor reports to the Office Manager and will work as part of the Carry The Kettle First Nation Health team to provide client services to promote the Maternal Child Health Program and the FASD initiative. This position is an advocate for mothers by improving the communications between the CHN, family doctors, obstetrician, and provincial public health staff to provide effective interventions of At-Risk births; discusses healthy choices in an respectful, non-intrusive say, and only within a reasonable scope of advocacy practice (e.g., family planning topics, and assessment for sexual victimization). The Parent Mentor position is seen as a role model within the community and will manage a caseload of clients and their families; conduct home visits as per an individualized plan of care and emphasize traditional, access to aide in transportation for clients to prenatal visits, breastfeeding education, and cultural aspects of healthy nurturing.
