Calian, Advanced Technologies (formerly SED Systems) has been in operation for over 55 years and continues to expand their capabilities in the telecommunications industry. Recently, SED has developed carbon fiber composite antennas for the next wave of high bandwidth internet-over-satellite. To continue the endeavour into cutting edge manufacturing technologies, we are looking for individuals who share our passion for new and innovative ideas. No prior knowledge of composites manufacturing is required - we provide all training in house! Our composites facility, SED Research Inc., is located in Saskatoon's north industrial, which is easily accessed by the new North Commuter Bridge.
As a composites Fabricator, you are exposed to the entirety of the production process, including:
-Fabrication of small and large composite panels
-Trimming and finishing work on parts
-Bonding of composite structures
-Metal and other general fabrication tasks
-Final packaging & shipment
-Assist in the integration of these subassemblies into larger, more complex systems
-Quality inspections, aiding with laser metrology, and applying protective coatings with our in-house spray booth are tasks available to those who are willing to acquire the essential techniques
Skills:
-A strong desire to learn new skills and working with your hands
-A positive attitude and inquisitive mind, with a keen eye for detail
-Strong problem-solving abilities
The ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory. All employees are required to apply for and receive a Government Security Clearance.
