Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Operate and understand the function of the main production equipment (extruder, dryer, enrober and other ancillary equipment required for production). Understand and demonstrate food safety principles and safe operating procedures in all activities towards final product manufacture. Maintain accurate records and participate in scheduled maintenance and training activities.  Document activities performed on designated records at specified frequency following procedure/policy as stated within written program.


RESPONSIBILITIES:    
Know operating procedures for main production equipment (extruder, dryer, enrober).
Understand and demonstrate a knowledge of food safety principles and practices as they relate to final product production.
Understand Horizon's General Food Hygiene Program and how its implementation relates to food production and extrusion activities.
Maintain accurate production and activity records within the department as required.
Complete sanitation of food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment understanding frequency of activity, list of approved chemicals, concentration used and temperature requirements.
Advise the Extruder Supervisor and General Manager of any and all issues that may potentially compromise food safety or quality as they arise.
Participate in scheduled maintenance activities.
Other duties as required and/or specified by the Extruder Supervisor or the General Manager.


FOOD SAFETY TENETS:
Comply with all policies, procedures, GMPs and documentation of activities relating to the food safety management system (FSSC 22000).
Inform QA and supervisors of any non-compliance events (deviations, issues, violations, or equipment malfunction) that directly impacts or potentially impact the food safety, quality and/or regulatory compliance of the product.
