The Position:
Reporting to the Health Manager the Addictions Worker will help clients abstain from addictions with drug, alcohol, tobacco, gambling or any other problems, in a culturally responsive way. Utilizing culturally appropriate counselling individuals, families, groups, or engage in prevention programs. In delivering these services, the Addictions Worker utilizes a case management approach with collaboration with mental health counselors, medical staff and other supports within the Heath Center. The Addictions Worker will also be collaborative with community based organizations. The caseload tends to be varied, complex, demanding and often crisis orientated. The Addictions Worker will provide direct intervention or referral to appropriate service providers/programs, for clients on issues related to; addictive patterns of behavioral and emotional concerns such as abuse, violence, grief and loss.
