Facility: Royal University Hospital
Job Description: The Critical Care Unit at the Royal University Hospital supports tertiary care for Saskatoon and North. It provides a high acuity care service for specialties that are only located at RUH. Specialized Services provided include cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery(including the provinces only neuro-endovascular program) major trauma, and stem cell transplant (a provincial program) and care of high risk maternal patients that need critical care needs. The manager plays an integral role in coordination of service from a multidisciplinary team. Thirteen bed unit with 4 flex beds for surges in capacity, the unit has over 4000 patient days/year. Contacts include staff at all levels of the organization, physicians, other interdisciplinary providers, and education institutions. Major challenges of this position: -Highly technical environment (equipment and skills) that the manager needs to understand and manage -Meeting the demands of numerous physicians, needs of patients and complex multi-site clinical service. This requires priority setting and constant decision making regarding the use of available resources to provide high service levels -Meeting expectations of the client/public and act as a client advocate in an environment of restricted resources -Liaison with clients/families to seek input and accessibility, appropriateness, availability and acceptability of patient care. -Balancing demands for service with limited human and material resources ensuring the efficient and effective utilization through organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluation the activities in the department -Responding to unanticipated pressures and constantly prioritizing competing demands
Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
