Description

BASAC is a non-profit organization providing one on one counseling as well as programming for survivors of sexualized violence and their families. The Counsellor is a full time position.  The Counsellor reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for one on one counselling for Children, Youth and Adult survivors of sexual violence and their families.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are providing direct services to clients within policies and procedures established by the Centre.
1.    Counselling
a.    Attend relevant community meetings
b.    Adhere to CBO directives and follow Centre policy
c.    Work harmoniously, in a team environment, with board members, staff, volunteers, community agencies, and general public.
d.    Maintain excellence of service to clients
e.    Keep accurate and up-to-date records
f.    Maintain Confidentiality
g.    Travel to surrounding communities to provide counselling services

Qualifications & Competencies
    Bachelors Degree in Social Work or other Human Services Field
    Offer support and counseling to Survivors of sexual assault and their families and significant others
    Act as an advocate on clients behalf.
    Keep updated on law reform, current events, techniques and developments regarding sexual assault.
    Follow board policies and decisions.
    Attend Annual General Meeting
    Account to Executive Director for quality of work.
    Assist with volunteer programs as required.
    Be on call and act as back-up for volunteers as required.
    Assist with preparation, publication and distribution of educational material to community agencies, volunteers, students, membership and general public.
    Assist with planning and participate in fund-raising activities for the Centre.
Job Requirements
    Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
    Valid Drivers License
    Reliable vehicle
    Ability to travel
