Description

Dasro is looking for a Senior Developer for a contract role in Regina, Saskatchewan. The role can start with remote work and move to onsite, when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.  

This position will be specializing in Operational Support and Development and requires a person with expert knowledge of client server applications built running a relational database. The incumbent requires expert level knowledge of SQL programming and development, experience monitoring and tuning database applications and the ability to work with an established team. Unix skills are a must.  

Job duties:
    Collaboration and coordination in working on a legacy team maintaining applications in both Power Builder and Java environments using a Sybase database for monitoring and tuning.
    Development on new initiatives for the company with a focus on reducing possible impacts to the current system.
    Troubleshoot, triage, and come up with solutions to resolve outages, issues, and design problems within the application and its delivery network.
    Participate in the release support and deployment process for application changes.
    Support a traditional batch processing environment that relies on Unix scripting and stored procedures to process the dailies.
    Ability to work on multiple applications in a critical system of significant complexity.
    Working with external partners to ensure system availability is not impacted.
    Design new and support existing Web Services, and APIs. Participate in the release and deployment process for application changes
    Follow and update documentation as needed.

Qualifications:
    Over 5 years experience as a senior DBA or database developer
    A strong grasp of modern development pipelines with a background in networks, infrastructure, batch processing, and software deployment
    Experience working with Power Builder and Java
    Experience working with Sybase, SQL Server and Stored Procedures
