Description

The successful candidate will support Estevan Art Gallery & Museum (EAGM) staff with implementing and completing redevelopment of permanent exhibitions on the second floor of the North West Mounted Police museum. The EAGM is committed to promoting awareness of the historical and contemporary life and culture of Southeast Saskatchewan's Indigenous peoples. The EAGM strives to continuously increase local and visiting peoples' interests in Canadian heritage and visual arts.

A significant portion of this internship will introduce the candidate to the day-to-day responsibilities of a Curator. These responsibilities include the organisation of exhibitions from research, writing, selecting works, arranging for loans, supervising catalogue production, designing, installation of exhibitions to preparing publicity for exhibitions and other Gallery events and programs. The Curatorial Intern position will also provide the candidate with the opportunity to participate in key museum roles such as acquisition, storage, and exhibition of works of art and collections, cataloguing artefacts in the EAGM's collections, and participating in our on-going digitisation project.
