Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Education and working in collaboration with the Health & Wellness (miyo machihowin) Team the kht-ayak Project Coordinator will organize activities for the kht-ayak as well as coordinate the involvement of kht-ayak in programs and services including linking with the youth. This includes the on-going development of Cree Law work, geneology and the gathering of stories throughout our history.
Purpose of Position
Plan, coordinate and facilitate activities for the kht-ayak;
Collaborate with other Muskeg Lake Cree Nation workers to link kht-ayak to the programs and the services provided to ensure guidance, support and advice;
Support the enhancement of kht-ayak involvement in all aspects of programming involving the children and youth;
Identify a group of kht-ayak who are interested in the on-going Cree Law development and ensure they have the supports necessary to attend on-going meetings;
Initiate and facilitate discussions on geneology to gather information on the family groups;
Gather information either individually or in small groups on stories throughout our history to help build on who we are;
Identify the expertise required to ensure everything is documented and safe guarded for on-going use;
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times;
Keep accurate and timely records and work with the Archival Department to ensure the materials are kept as per standard.
