We are looking for an experienced and dependable Truck Driver to join our team. The Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently driving a large commercial vehicle long distances for extended hours to deliver cargo. All safety regulations and standards regarding size, weight, and break periods must be followed. The ideal candidate already has experience as an owner or operator, 1A license and has previous experience driving. The Driver will also be responsible for receiving cargo, parking in appropriate docks, tracking mileage, and documenting schedules, inventory delivery confirmation, and manifests.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Practice safe, long-distance driving habits.
- Follow all state and national large truck safety regulations and standards
- Complete documentation for mileage and cargo; keep track of mileage, fuel, and toll expenses; confirm inventory matches shipping documents
- Accurately follow maps and directions for time-efficient routes
- Plan routes to meet delivery schedules. Refuel vehicle and check/replace oil as needed
- Inspect truck daily for damage or maintenance problems (tire wear, dents, etc.)
- Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while driving to supervisors
- Maintain vehicle equipment; clean windows, windshields, and mirrors as needed; keep interior of vehicle clean of debris and clutter
- 53 foot flat deck, working hours: 5 days on 2 days off . Travel only in Canada.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must have a valid and current 1A
- Must have a clean driving record with no more than 2 maximum recent violations
- Physically fit and able to sit for long time periods and lift 50 pounds comfortably
- Candidate should be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator
- Able to work night, weekends, extended hours, and holidays as needed
