Description

The Qu'Appelle Haven Safe Shelter (QHSS) is a non-profit organization that provides a temporary safe place for women and children in the Fort Qu'Appelle area.  QHSS provides client centered programming, counselling, outreach and domestic abuse awareness and prevention service delivery.

Child Care Counsellor will primarily be responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of programs for clients in the shelter. This will involve counselling, crisis intervention, assessment and referrals for the children. Other duties include client intakes, follow-up, advocacy, report writing, outreach and general administration. The Child Care Counsellor will also participate as a team member providing facilitation of group discussions and coordination of workshops for women and children.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-    University degree in social work, education or related field.
-    Familiarity with community resources;
-    Experience in crisis intervention and counseling;
-    Excellent communication and organizational skills;
-    Proficient knowledge and comfortable working in a computerized environment;
-    Must possess a valid driver?s license and dependable vehicle;
-    An understanding of First Nations values and traditions, with an emphasis on healing initiatives within First Nation communities
-    Mental Health and First Aid/CPR would be an asset, driver's license is required.
-      Must provide a criminal record check (CPIC) and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
