Description

Position:
The Communications Specialist will implement the Offices strategic communications plan, provide communications advice, and develop a wide range of communications. Responsibilities include:
- Editing for accuracy, readability, and publication  
- Media relations, management and monitoring, including organizing press conferences
- Writing and developing communications materials
- Content creation for website and intranet
- Social media management. Content development and curation, including visuals
- Researchdeveloping and administering surveys, analyzing data, and reporting results

Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least five years of experience as a public relations/communications/journalism professional, including direct experience in writing and editing, media relations, social media, strategic communications, internal communications, research, and planning press conferences
- Exceptional analytical and project management skills combined with initiative, sound judgment, flexibility, and decision-making competence
- Able to establish and maintain rapport with colleagues and external consultants
- A proficient writer, a sharp eye for detail, and thorough knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, and the editing/proofreading process
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
- Knowledge of government and the public sector an asset
- Print production knowledge an asset
