Description

The Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbours (SIGN) is seeking a Family Support Worker on a contract basis, to work within Yorkton and Fort QuAppelle and rural and surrounding areas to support individual client needs.  The Family Support In-Home Support Worker will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care and support in consultation with individuals and their families. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients.

The successful candidate should have the Education and Professional Experiences of:
    A Bachelors Degree, Diploma or Certification and training appropriate to the position.
    A minimum of one (1) year experience working with various children, youth and families.
    Valid drivers license and access to a personal motor vehicle for transportation of clients.
    A clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check from RCMP.

And the assets and abilities, inclusive of (but not limited to):
    Supporting and educating families in parenting, child development, communication skills and relationship building.
    Connecting individuals and families to community and professional supports.
    The ability to travel to meet with families in their homes and accommodate family schedules.
    The ability to be strength based
    The ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, in potentially volatile and emotionally charged situations.
    The ability to maintain positive professional boundaries without imposing personal judgments and expectations on families and clients.
    The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
    The ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
    The availability to meet families on evenings and weekends.
