The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA) protects consumer and the public interest and supports economic well-being through responsive marketplace regulation. The Securities Division of the FCAA regulates the sale of securities in the province to protect investors through registration, disclosure, audits, complaint handling, and enforcement activities.
The Securities Division is seeking a lawyer with a strong interest in securities and derivatives regulation. A significant percentage of the work in this position will be dedicated to the challenge of regulating derivatives in the province. This position will:
- Develop and implement regulations for derivatives, in conjunction with other Canadian jurisdictions;
- Analyze, report on and recommend courses of action based on data received; and
- Focus on the FCAAs regulation of FINTECH business seeking to offer innovative products, services and applications in Canada.
Your practice will also extend to all subject areas that touch upon the mandate of the Securities Division and include advising on legal and policy issues relating to securities and derivatives regulation.
To qualify for this position, you must have a university degree in law and membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan. A finance, commerce or business administration degree would also be an asset.
