Description

The Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated, strategic, and innovative individual to join the Regional Services Branch.

As a Public Trust Specialist within the Public Trust Unit, you will provide expertise and leadership in building trust in modern agriculture. You will work closely with external and internal stakeholders to implement the Ministrys Strategic Plan, with responsibilities such as: overseeing a third-party delivered agricultural mentorship program; developing and fostering a network of young agricultural leaders; working with public trust amplifier groups, such as Agriculture in the Classroom and 4-H Saskatchewan, as well as with other agriculture associations and businesses; identifying projects that will increase understanding of agriculture and engaging industry partners to execute on them; organizing training and development opportunities for ministry staff; developing programs, tools, resources, and communications materials that will support industry participation in public trust efforts; supporting the implementation and measurement of the Public Trust Strategy; and monitoring consumer perceptions of agriculture and the effectiveness of efforts to build trust.

You will have an understanding of the Canadian agriculture sector and the impact of the industrys perception on the actions of young people, consumers, producers and policy-makers. You will also have the proven ability to develop, implement and monitor policies, programs, strategies and projects. You will have a wide-network in the agriculture industry and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships. Also, you will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to share science-based information.

Typically, the skills and knowledge required for this position will have been gained through a degree in business, agriculture or policy, combined with several years of professional experience.
