Personal Care worker (PCW)
DESCRIPTION:
Reports to HCC RN of home and community care. This position will be expected to respect and protect the rights of First Nation citizens, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination Provides personal care and activities of daily living for members of the community to encourage optimal level of functioning. Support members in meeting their physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs.
DUTIES
Apply knowledge-based programs in collaboration with the client and health care professionals.
Must be able to provide home management, personal care, and respite assistance.
Use skills and interventions to meet the physical, cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs of the client.
Provide companionship.
Housekeeping, laundry, and basic cooking may be required.
Must be able to clearly document and maintain comprehensive records.
Ability to work a modified work schedule of 7.5hr, days, nights, and weekends.
Maintain sanitation of the Elders' Home; Other duties as assigned by RN and/or designate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12; Combination of Education and Experience.
Continuing Care Aide, Personal Care Worker, or Home Health Aide Certification is required.
Certified First Aid & CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate is an asset.
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Current Criminal Record Clearance, Vulnerable Sector check.
