Job Description: Dual reporting responsibility to the Manager of Resident Care Services, Parkridge Centre (0.5 FTE), and Seniors' Health and Continuing Care Services, Long Term Care (0.5 FTE). The Psychologist provides clinical care, counseling and consultation services to residents, family and staff in all 30 long term care homes within the Saskatoon Health Region. This position is key in supporting the quality of life for residents in Long Term Care. Responsibilities include providing assessment/care planning expertise including behavioural mapping to recommend effective interventions to team members at Parkridge and other Long Term Care homes and individuals who are caring for residents with responsive behaviours. The incumbent will assists professional and non-professional staff to develop a problem-solving approach to understanding behaviour symptoms, triggers and develop mechanisms and strategies to effectively manage the behaviours. Participates, implements and evaluates programs that are available for these clients (e.g.: clients with dementia, acquired brain injury and psychiatric illness) in order to identify gaps in service and participates in planning/developing services and programs to meet current and future needs
Required Qualifications
PhD in Clinical Psychology
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists
Experience
Direct clinical experience and demonstrated expertise in mental health and behavioural management programs for difficult to serve residents.
