Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Planning and Employment, the Specialist provides advanced knowledge as a strategic partner and subject matter expert within the Human Resources Department in the design, delivery, and implementation of human resource services and strategies to improve operations, achieve goals, and resolve issues.  

The Specialist provides human resources expertise, leadership, consultation and decision making to all levels of the organization as well as external partners including 3S Health, Ministry of Health, SAHO, educational institutions and other Health Regions. The Specialist provides solutions for regional issues including collective agreement interpretation, union negotiation, recruitment and retention strategies, organizational change, layoff, hiring, human rights and provincial labour law, human resource indicator analysis and benchmarking, and regional multi-year HR planning aligned with SHR's strategic plan.

Experience
5 - 8 years experience in Human Resources or Health Care Management/Administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to translate strategic direction into recruitment and retention initiatives
Effective time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage competing priorities within limited time frames
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates integrity and professionalism
Excellent negotiating skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, consultative manner
Knowledge of Human Resource theory and pract
