The Position Casual /PT Youth Care Worker
As an important member of an interdisciplinary team, the Youth Care Worker is primarily responsible for the care & supervision of the clients. Utilizing a client-centered approach, the Youth Care Worker must be able to provide proactive solutions when addressing complex and challenging behaviours. Specifically, the Youth Care Worker must have the ability to recognize potential safety risks to the wellbeing of self, clients, staff and others.
The incumbent must be a positive role model for youth and have values that include integrity, respect and service excellence. An understanding of youth development, and the creative ability foster positive youth development, is desirable.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
A certificate or diploma in Human Services including Child and Youth Care work or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Awareness of Aboriginal culture and language is an asset;
Excellent communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with youth;
Possess, or be willing to obtain, First Aid/ CPR; and
Valid drivers licence/ satisfactory criminal record and child abuse registry check
