1. Provide employment-counselling services to individuals with intellectual disabilities
including promoting, training, employment opportunities, and accessing funding for training
and job supports.
2. Assist individuals to overcome barriers to employment and develop vocational goals by identifying personal, family and educational barriers to employment and providing non-specialized supportive counselling.
3. Refers individuals to community services and programs as appropriate.
4. Identifies community employment opportunities for individuals through networking and public relations with potential employers, partner agencies and the business community.
5. Assists individuals in resolving on-the-job and off-the-job problems such as worker relations,
employer relations, job requirements and routines, and personal issues that can affect their work.
6. Participates on committees and delivers public awareness presentations, training events and other activities as assigned.
7. Hiring, placing, monitoring, and supporting job coaches where support is needed.
8. Travel throughout Regina and surrounding areas including will be required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelors degree in related fields including, but not limited to: Social Work, Psychology,
Education, and/or a Diploma or Certificate in Human Sciences such as Child Development,
Rehabilitation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preference will be given to those candidates with employment experience and an awareness of the issues surrounding individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Knowledge of issues, programs and services affecting people with disabilities relating to
employment is an asset.
- Valid Drivers license.
- Must successfully pass a security clearance.
