The Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbours (SIGN) is seeking a Housing Outreach Support Worker to work within Yorkton to support individual client needs. The Housing Outreach Support Worker will work collaboratively with the Housing Locator Program Manager and other community partners as well as participate in engagement and education throughout the community
Education and Professional Experiences of:
Combination of work experience and education that is acceptable to the Board of Directors
Experience working with marginalized populations in community-related field
Valid drivers license and access to a personal motor vehicle for transportation
A Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check from RCMP
Assets and abilities, inclusive of (but not limited to):
Initiate case management of the referrals received from the Housing Locator Program Manager
Maintain appropriate data collection and reporting tools
Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops for clients and staff including but not limited to tenant rights and responsibilities, housing discrimination, communicating with landlords and others
Maintain collaborative relationships with clients and housing providers
Provide short-term support to the client and landlord relationship, if required
Proactively seek new housing opportunities and resources to assist clients
Negotiate leases on behalf of clients in collaboration with case managers and the client
Assist clients with identifying and reducing barriers
Disseminate relative housing information to clients and appropriate staff members in a timely fashion
Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures
Knowledge of community resources and the Saskatchewan Residential Tenancies Act and SK Housing policy
Understanding of mental health, addictions, crisis management and counselling
