Description

Reporting to the Health Manager, the Wellness worker will counsel and advise adult individuals with drug, alcohol, tobacco, or other problems, such as gambling and mental health disorders in a culturally responsive way. Utilizing culturally appropriate and trauma informed care may counsel individuals, families, groups, or engage in prevention programs. In delivering these services, the Wellness Worker utilizes a case management approach with collaboration with mental health counselors, medical staff and other supports within the Health Centre. The wellness worker will also be collaborative with community based organizations. The caseload tends to be varied, complex, demanding and often crisis orientated. The Wellness Worker will provide direct intervention or referral to appropriate service providers/programs, for client issues related to addictive patterns of behavior; concurrent disorders; and other mental health, behavioral and emotional concerns such as abuse, violence, grief and loss.
