JOB SUMMARY:
The Cowessess First Nation is currently seeking a skilled leader and trained professional to join our team on the Cowessess First Nation as the Director of Justice. This is a management position reporting to the Executive Director. The Director of Justice shall be responsible for restorative justice programming as well as overseeing the Peacekeepers, Fine Option Program, Alternative Measures Program, Fire Department and Animal Control Bylaws. They will be responsible for the overall administration and operations of the Justice Department, including supervising multiple staff. The Director must be self-motivated, high energy and possess a positive attitude with the capacity to form positive working relationships both internally and externally with co-workers, community members, various community groups and organizational partners. They will work with and continue to build strong relationships with current funding partners, as well as seek and apply for additional funding sources and establish new relationships with external agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelors Degree in Justice, Administration or relevant field is preferred
-OR, Five (5) years of directly related experience gained through progressive leadership roles
-Ability to promote the values and virtues of living an active and healthy lifestyle
-Experience in proposal writing, grant research, developing reports, budgeting and procurement
-Must have experience in translating policies, bylaws and acts and ensuring compliance to such
-Excellent written and oral skills with the ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision
-Must be able to participate in collaboration and teamwork projects
-Must be well organized, punctual, reliable, and ensure confidential matters remain confidential
-Must possess a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle
-Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary
-Willing to submit a vulnerable sector criminal record check
