Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Community Living Service Delivery requires an energetic and empathetic Community Service Worker for the North Service Area in the Prince Albert office.



A Community Service Worker supports and empowers the community to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities to live more independently and participate more fully in communities. This is achieved by applying and implementing appropriate social work methods to divisional programs in the region with the primary goals of restoring, maintaining, and enhancing community inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Our team of professional Community Service Workers possess a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a Bachelor of Indian Social Work (BISW), and are responsible for managing a caseload of clients which include: assessment, individual program planning, counselling of individuals and/or families, referral and follow-up to residential day program or other service systems, crisis intervention, and consulting with community-based organizations (CBO's) regarding individual client and staff training issues. They will monitor, review and perform case issue resolution of CBO's and approved private-service homes, and consult and educate the community at large. Supervision and monitoring the work of new social workers and practicum students may arise on an assigned/as required basis.

To qualify, for this rewarding position a Bachelor of Social Work or a Bachelor of Indian Social Work and related experience is required.  A valid drivers licence is required as travel may be necessary.
