The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment, Forest Service Branch, is currently seeking a proactive, self-directed, analytical individual with a background in silviculture and field surveys to fill the role of Forest Ecosystem Technician headquartered in Prince Albert.

Forests are essential to the long-term well-being of Saskatchewan's communities, economy and environment. Over half of Saskatchewan is forested, providing the province with a multitude of benefits. As stewards of the forest resource, the Government of Saskatchewan is committed to its sustainable management.  As the Forest Ecosystem Technician, you will be responsible for planning, supervising and implementation of field survey projects that support the provincial forest regeneration assessment and industry renewal programs.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of common field sampling procedures used in the science of forestry, experience working in the field collecting a variety of data and on silviculture projects.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a 2-year technical diploma in the study of forestry or a related natural resource management diploma. Formal education in the use of Geographic Information Systems would be an asset.

This position will require traveling to remote locations to conduct work activities, working irregular hours, conducting field surveys, and operating trucks and all-terrain vehicles.
