Parent Support Worker

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is currently seeking applications for a Permanent Part Time Parent Support Worker for the community of Grandmother's Bay. The Parent Support Worker will be required to assist the Maternal Child Health Program by improving health outcomes for pregnant women and families with infants and young children, by focusing on culture, role modeling, health teaching and by linking with community resources.

Duties:
In-home support, utilizing a strength based model, with families who have children between the ages of 0  6 years;
Teach individuals and groups about health promotion topics;
Assist the Community Health Nurse to provide and deliver programs and services;
Advocate, refer and act as a liaison for families;
Work closely with other Health Care Professionals;
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
Grade XII or GED Certificate; Combination of education and experience may be considered;
Personal experience as a parent or caregiver of infants &/or young children;
Excellent communication skills;
Able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills;
The ability to speak/understand Cree will be a definite asset;
Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and Drivers abstract are required upon hire;
Must possess a Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
