The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is seeking an individual who is self-motivated, organized and results-oriented to lead the Denare Beach Forest Protection Area.

As Forest Protection Officer, you will be responsible for forest protection and fire management activities, as well as:  
- Human Resource Management, including leadership and supervision of employees, contract fire crews and emergency fire fighters;
- Wildland fire pre-suppression activities, including equipment and infrastructure maintenance, fire response planning, mitigating fire risks and employee training;
- organization and coordination of fire suppression tactical and strategic response;
- all required administrative functions relative to the position;
- an assigned fire budget where you will plan, forecast, and respond to budget pressures; and
- Manage the purchase of goods and services according to legislated requirements, department guidelines and policies.  

Working conditions can include:
- working undefined hours, in remote locations or away from headquarters for extended periods of time;
- traveling by air, water or on land in inclement weather conditions;
- exposure to extreme heat and smoke;
- on call for extended periods, and
- possibly be temporarily assigned to other locations in the province or locations in Canada or United States.  

To qualify, candidates would typically gain the competencies for this position through the completion of a technical diploma in Integrated Resource Management, Forest Ecosystem Technology and possesses extensive and progressive experience with Forest Fire Suppression field operations.

The successful candidate shall be subject to a criminal record check as a condition of employment.
