Description

The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Mining and Energy Division has an immediate opening for a Research Engineer in its Process Development Business Unit. This position can be located in Regina or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Accountabilities
    Participate in confidential research and develop, adapt, and transfer added-value process technologies to a range of industries across all sectors
    Collaborate with scientists and technologists to analyze experimental results from proof-of-concept to pilot scale experiments
    Perform experimental work, assist in method development, develop and modify procedures, track results and prepare client reports
    Perform technoeconomic assessments and pre-feasibility studies
    Assist with developing business opportunities in a highly technical field, including interacting with clients, making presentations, writing proposals, and managing projects
    Participate in safety and hazard assessments and work safely with high-pressure and high-temperature equipment, hazardous chemicals, petroleum and mineral products

Qualifications
    M.Sc. or PhD in chemical engineering with your professional engineering (P.Eng) designation and two to seven years of experience, preferably in the areas of new process technology development
    Minimum of two years of industry experience is strongly preferred
    Experience in two or more of the following areas is preferred: biofuels, heavy oil upgrading or refining, chemical manufacturing, bioprocessing, water treatment, alternative energy development, geothermal, carbon capture/storage, emission reduction technologies, mineral processing, hydrogen, small modular reactors
    Experience working with pilot-scale lab and process equipment, using data acquisition systems, managing industrial research projects, or optimizing field applications are assets
    Familiarity with chemical engineering modelling software
