Responsibilities:
-Plan, execute and accomplish all activities associated with the radiation protection program
-Plan the daily schedules necessary to accomplish the prescribed monitoring program. A critical element is a thorough knowledge of measurement of radon/radon progeny levels and radioactive dust with analysis of the data obtained
-Supervise Technicians/Technologists in the above activities
-Co-ordinate monitoring activities such as ventilation and contamination control
-Ensure all radioisotopes are monitored, stored, used and maintained as required
-Ensure that movement of material onto and off site complies with all applicable regulations
-Prepare reports, analyses and other documents
-Ensure that Technicians/Technologists are provided with necessary leadership and resources needed to carry out their functions. This includes OTJ training and formal learning
-Respond to situations where it may be necessary to investigate, eliminate and/or control unacceptable radiation exposure
-Provide communication between the radiation protection group and all departments on matters which fall within the scope of the Health, Safety, , Environment and Regulatory Relations Department (HSE&RR)
-Develop and deliver training programs
Skills and Qualifications:
-A 3-year degree in a field of science/engineering preferably with a nuclear sciences option
-5 years working in a field directly related to the control of worker exposure to radiation, preferably in a mining
-Ability to supervise technical staff
-Experience with databases and related applications
-Familiarity with the operation of agencies such as CNSC, Sask Labour, SE or their equivalents
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake site
-14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
